iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera Blurry and Out of Focus

Hi All,

It seems im not having a very good experience with the new iPhone 15 Pro Max. Coming from a 14 Pro Max the pictures were great. nice and sharp, never had issues with "blur" or "grainy" photo's.

This new iPhone seems to be a downgrade in the photo's it can produce. I'm constantly getting very grainy photo's even with the slightest bit of zoom after the photo has been taken.

I have tried all resolution's etc (12mp, 24mp, 48mp HEIF & Pro Raw.) this has affected th 1x and 5x camera.

My 14 won me a few awards for photo's and consider myself fairly knowledgeable on iPhone Photography. The 15 just isn't putting out good quality images.

All photo's are stored "on device" so there is no iCloud trickery happening.

The below is an example of what I am talking about.

I am soooo annoyed about this! I purchased the iPhone 15 pro for the camera and complete disappointment so far. All photos are blurry, grainy, and just remind me of the iPod touch. Apple please fix this! Can’t figure out if this is a software problem or a hardware one!

I just did a shoot for my church and trying to open the files they came out lo-rez (videos and images). I am using Win 10. I do have win 11 laptop that did open the images, although not from the phone, had to save them to the laptop first. they are still exceedingly noisy. So it appears that for us Windows users 11 is the only option. If i could get my 13 promax back I would swap it in a heartbeat. Contacted Apple and they said there was nothing they could do. Suggested loading them to the Icloud, not happening!

I have a iPhone 11 Pro Max - since I have switched to OS 17 my photos are absolutely terrible ! Grainy, out of focus and defaults to 2x option on zoom !

so annoyed as I needed to take photos of my old dog before we said our final goodbye and all I have is crappy out of focus grainy pictures! Apple has lost the plot with this update ( assuming it’s what is causing this functional change ?!)

I have tried all options to change this nothing helps … if anyone know what I can do to fix PLEASE share 🙏

This sucks Apple !! I can only imagine how those who have forked out the $$ for a new phone would feel !!

Glad I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.

I have the 15 plus and the quality of the pictures is far worse than the iPhone 12 I used to have.

The selfies are of horrible quality and once I take a picture and go look at it on the photos app, the lighting is completely different than it was on the camera preview and the picture appears low quality and grainy.

However, if I take a selfie using Instagram's camera it's not as bad.

I hope Apple fixes this ASAP.

I thought I was going crazy. I upgraded from an iPhone 11 to the 15 Pro on September 24th and initially, I was very happy with the camera upgrade! Recently though, I noticed that the lighting for selfies I take looks better in the camera display than what is actually captured. The Live Photo footage looks like the display, but the photo itself seems auto-adjusted to a dark, shadowy and grainy image! Same thing for main camera captures too. They just look so much worse and I’ve tried playing with the settings but nothing works. I suspect this is an iOS issue as I don’t remember it being this way before the update. I also tried taking photos in burst mode and that seems to be the only thing that’s preventing the auto-adjust feature, the photos in burst mode look the same as they do in the camera preview. I really hope they fix this. So annoying!

I am disappointed with the camera quality of iPhone 15 Pro Max. Coming from 12 Pro Max which was amazing it’s a noticeable difference. All photos are grainy, some are blurry. Portraits nowhere good as they used to be with 12 PM. I am regretting I “upgraded”. I should have gone with pixel 8 pro. Hopefully next year I will be able to trade in 15 PM for next pixel.
