I cannot believe we are still waiting for a fix on this, nearly 8 weeks after the release of Sonoma.
It makes me wonder just how much testing goes into new releases.
I am so close to reverting back to Ventura
FFS how frustrating! I updated to Sonoma 14.3.1 last night, was just on a zoom screen share meeting and tried to mirror my iPhone and the attendees couldn’t see it on their end, they could only the screen share of my desktop! Is there a way I can roll back to previous update?? I literally can’t my job until this bug is fixed!
To follow up ... I did an experiment and turned Remote Management ON on the target mini running Sonoma 14.2.1 , the machine I need to be able to share its screen. I then tried to share the mini's screen from my iMac and when I gave my user name and password it still claimed it was wrong, even though I am the only administrator account on the mini.
When I shut Remote management back off and turned on Screen Sharing everything worked perfectly again.
So it is Remote Management that is broken! Turn off Remote Management and turn on Screen Sharing and you are good to go.
To help others, it would be nice if you could tell us WHAT exactly of the many suggestions above helped you?
Oh, never mind, it's my fault: I didn't see the tiny-print 'in response to' by the minimalistic designers at Apple.
Thanks!
Bro how do I update back to Ventura . Sonoma is not for me. IM TRYING TO WATCH BADDIES EAST WITH MY FRIEND AND ITS NOT LETTING ME SHARE MY SCREEN THIS BUM *** UPDATE YALL NEEDA FIX THIS LIKE SERIOUSLY .
Update: disconnected from remote machine for ~24 hours and Screen Sharing stopped working. Logged in once and remote screen was frozen. Logged out and attempted to login again—failed.
Hello Apple: what is going on? This issue has not been resolved for months.
Almost a year into Sonoma and Apple STILL HASN'T FIXED screen sharing. This bug has caused a massive workflow problem for me. I really hate how Apple ignores blaring bugs and sticks their head in the sand. Screw the Mac customers, they have more iPhones to make.
I'm also running 14.4.1 (on both machines) and a long problem still consists: After starting screen sharing, sometimes the connection will not be established. Login screen tries to connect for ever. If I abort by pressing ESC and trying again, the connection will be established immediately. Very annoying. There is something wrong in error handling. This happens every now and again. Sometimes 1st trial is successful but sometimes not... This whole sh.. is now error prone since the first days of Sonoma.
Try RustDesk. I play the Sharing Remote Management Remote Login Toggle game about 10 times a day. Here is my hourly scenario. 1. Mac Screen Sharing(easy file sharing), 2. Sharing Screen FREEZES., 3 RustDesk and toggle both Remote Management & Remote Login buttons. 4 Go back To Screen Share rinse and repeat. Very FRUSTRATING. fyi, does not belong in this post but the caps lock icon is horrid. I support 50 users, its 49-1 against it. I just wonder what Apple is thinking.
Apple has acknowledged the problem. I have opened a case. There is no fix or workaround in Sonoma. An update is imminent hopefully.
I am experiencing the same issue and after numerous reboots I came to the conclusion to only use Standard sharing type.
(Server Mac mini M1, Client MBP 16 M2, both Sonoma 14.3)
Definitely broken in Sonoma. Works fine in Ventura on my Mac Pro but not on my Mac Studio Sonoma 14.0(23A344)
Have tried from 3 different M1/M2 machines all running Sonoma with different machines on the receiving end running older OS - none worked.
I was using this to connect from my Macbook at home to my Mac Mini at work. It's very unfortunate that this is suddenly broken.
I’m using VNC Viewer on my ipad and iPhone to connect to my iMac with vnc server. It’s working for me. I did update all client & server sw when I updated Sonoma.
Our three Macs on Sonoma have no problems with screen sharing. We use it everyday.
