No. Since the AirTag relies on broadcasting a low power Bluetooth signal, that signal would have a difficult time passing through metal, rendering it basically useless.

You're very welcome! If you have already purchased an AirTag, you can give it a try. Bluetooth has a range of around 30' when not encumbered. Any iPhone, not just yours, would receive this signal, and then, in turn relay it to the Apple servers over the Internet. That is where you would "see" it with the Find My app on your phone.


Since the AirTag employs a beacon, that signal is typically only transmitted every 3-5 mins to save battery life, so location updates may not be automatic.
