Very low sound while calling on iPhone 11 Pro Max

yes this is exactly how my pro max 13 has been since updating to ios17. Word for word. I just updated to 17.1.2 hoping the fix was in the update but I was wrong. It actually made the issue worse!!! . bc my 13 pro max was perfect BEFORE the 17ios was forced updated. I’ve tried everything. Let me know if you find a solution other than buying a new phone. You win apple bought a new phone running same software as my mini (updated multiple time and never got better) and the issue is gone....shocking. It'll be interesting to watch apple get in trouble for this update like they did with battery life back in the day. Guess I will enjoy the phone feature until you guys come out with the 16 or 17 and force your customers to update the software which turns into updating the phone all together. This tactic is good for stock not so much for customer loyalty.

I updated my 11 pro max on Jan 2024 and still facing the same problem.

Is there any solution other than buying a new phone?

Well for now I am forwarding all calls to my android phone when in public or noisy areas.

I have an iPhone 11 and this is happening to me as well. I can only hear people with headphones on. When will apple fix this? Is anyone from apple actually listening to this thread, because nothing is working. Everyone’s speakers can’t possibly have “broken” at the same time… I read that someone discovered the update “physically broke the speaker” - if this is the case, then isn’t apple liable?

Facing same issue..have iPhone 11pro max…very low volume while on call after updates…few more software updates but still no improvement. With so many others also having same issue, it seems Apple tricked this to force us to buy newer phones.

I had this issue was well. I posted about it a little while back but Apple deleted my comment because I mentioned a super secret software testing programme that’s so much betta that anyone can sign up to it (even though I didn’t disclose any details of it, just mentioned it that I’m using it)… 🙄

Anyway, I will post details of my issue and resolution separately.

Iphone 11. Started after the update. No other issues. Dialing and talking can't hear at all. Speaker is fine. No attention aware on. Slider ringer is on, and have played with the settings a bit, rebooted, etc. Nothing is working and it's driving me bonkers. Can't afford new phone at all.

I can’t hear my phone calls after the last update. This is unacceptable as I use this phone for my dad’s Line of Life. I need to be able to HEAR people when they call me or when I call them. I see from hundreds of others HAVE this is a problem that needs to be fixed ASAP.

My iphone XR has the same issue. Can hear everything from the ear speaker when watching a video or anything but the moment I I'm on a call the volume drops to the point can't hear anything. Happened after I updated to ios 17.4.1

same phone and same problem thought there was something wrong and was looking to have to buy a newer one , relieved it’s not the phone and possibly the update but it’s flipping annoying can’t hear anything!!!!

I’m experiencing the exact same thing. I cannot hear phone calls at all until I put my phone on speaker. The volume is perfect on everything else as well as on speaker but actual phone calls I cannot hear a thing.

Yeppers !! Same problem on all 5 iphones and no solution. Thinking of going back to Android. I am a business owner and I am dead in the water if I can't communicate with vendors and customers.

That is a pathetic answer… there are loads of us having the same problem and your suggestion is to clean your phone… absolute bollocks… how about some proper advise, or admit there is a fault with the software…

I updated to 17.0.3 on my Iphone 12 mini and now I can barely hear phone people speak. Felt like it was apples way of making people use/buy air pods but when I use my air pods its no better.

Installed 17.1.1 today and still very low in-call volume.
