double tap

So after getting the series 9 as a present I was struggling setting up the double tap gesture feature , with disabled 2 yr old twins as well as a 3 yr old with additional needs and other children this feature would be very beneficial due to having my ‘hands full’ most of the time . All of the setting were correct and various setting deactivated when I used the tips ‘try now’ option my continuous message was ‘Double tap unavailable, to use this feature : ensure watch is on wrist’ obviously it is and have had an older watch for a few years now. It wasn’t until today (7 days after trying to work it out) did I realise that if you have tattoos on your wrist the technology doesn’t detect the gesture …. Of which I do ! Absolutely gutted that there is nothing I can find from Apple to warn you of this , various other options could have been available to me at a substantial lower price ….. in addition to this I’m also unable to use the eSIM feature as not available through sky mobile provider again something that should have been highlighted at point of sale , Hope this helps someone in saving a lot of time and money !
