Youtube video pause when clicking on time bar

I bought a new MacBook Pro today and I have this issue where every time I click on the time bar to skip the Youtube video it pauses, so I have to click start button. This is driving me crazy because I often skip parts of the video. Same thing happens to when I try to watch YouTube shorts. I have to click start button every time the shorts moves on to next one. It ONLY happens in Safari, not in Google Chrome.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.3

Hello _Latte_,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about Safari.

Please check all the troubleshooting here: If Safari doesn't open a page or work as expected on your Mac - Apple Support

Also, test on other sites. Any news videos, or other video sites. If other sites work properly, it's only specific to YouTube with Safari, ask the developer, they may need an update to work with Safari: "If the issue affects other devices and web browsers on the same network, the issue is probably with the website, and you should contact the website developer for help."

If all sites have the same issue, please let us know if any of the troubleshooting in the article helped, it might be an extension or some other parts of the above article.

Cheers.
