Iphone 12 microphone problem

My iphone 12 microphone does not record in the voice memo app I know the microphone is ok as it does record if i take an audio visual video on the iphone.I have reset the iphone a couple of times to no effect.

The microphone is enabled in privacy and screen time, but voice memo does not show up in the list of enabled apps.In fact no apps shw up although The microphone does work in video

I have also deleted and reinstalled the voice mail app to no effect.

Any clues??
