Connecting Macbook M1 to External Lenovo Thinkvision with Dell WD22TB4 Docking Station

I have an external monitor connected to a Dell WD22TB4 docking station using an HDMI. When I connect my macbook pro - the display is "recognized" however the monitor remains black. I think it is the refresh rate, but when I connect the macbook to the docking station the dock shifts to the black monitor so i can't access it. Every once in awhile the screen flickers - but I can't do anything to correct.

Does anything here help? It's focused on Dual Monitors, but it seems that each part needs to be connected a certain way in order for a monitor to be recognized. https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000124312/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd19tb-and-apple-usb-c-hosts#Dual_Monitor

Also, pressing the Command (CMD) and F1 keys at the same time might force the MacBook to mirror its display.

that appears to be a 1920 by 1080 display, with:

Video Signal:

1 x HDMI 1.4

1 x DP 1.2

1 x VGA

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

HDMI was invented for HD TV sets. it works great at its original resolution of 720i or 720p. At higher resolutions, it quickly develops issues that are complex to solve, and the cables and adapters required to solve are NOT intuitive.
