I see there is a poster option now, too, but overall I want to know if the photo I assign to my name in my own contacts, as well as the poster, shows up on every phone call I make? I would prefer my face show up only for designated people like my favorites, and not for anybody with an iPhone. Is this possible?

This article explains that while this image does pop up automatically when you make a call, you can "choose to share automatically with Contacts Only, or select Always Ask to be prompted before your name, photo, and poster are shared with anyone you’re communicating with."

That is correct. While you have Contacts Only selected for the Share Automatically option, your name and photo will only be shared with individuals already saved in your contacts.
