iPhone to Apple TV, format cannot be streamed

Trying to airplay from the Apple TV app, an Apple original episode that I was able to play last week and I'm getting the "this video is in a format that can't be streamed to your TV", as far as I know nothing's changed. iPhone XR, 2nd gen Apple TV. (I don't currently have an actual remote but I didn't have it last week when it was working either).

iPhone XR, iOS 16

I have the same problem airplaying to a Samsung frame tv from my ipad. Ytube videos and videos in my photo library work, but any home videos or movies in the ipad apple tv app do not airplay with the error message you mentioned about the format. And i have the same problem with my iphone 11

It seems like you're encountering an issue with streaming content from your iPhone XR to your 2nd generation Apple TV. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

  1. Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that both your iPhone and Apple TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, a network change can cause streaming issues.
  2. Restart Devices: Try restarting both your iPhone and Apple TV. This can help resolve minor glitches in the devices' connections.
  3. Update Software: Make sure your iPhone, Apple TV, and the Apple TV app are running the latest software versions. Outdated software can lead to compatibility issues.
  4. Reset Apple TV: If the problem persists, you can try resetting your Apple TV to its factory settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Reset and select "Reset All Settings." Note that this will erase all settings and data on your Apple TV, so make sure to back up important information.
  5. Check Content Format: It's possible that the specific episode you're trying to stream has an issue with its format. Try streaming a different video or content to see if the problem persists.
  6. Use Physical Remote: While you mentioned not having a physical remote, having one can sometimes help with troubleshooting. If you can borrow or acquire a remote, it may be worth trying to see if it resolves the issue.
  7. Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps work, it's a good idea to reach out to Apple Support. They can provide specific guidance and assistance for your Apple TV model and software version.

I have a similar situation....I made a video clip in mp4. It was then imported to my iPad8 and iPad2. The iPad2 steamed flawlessly to a Sony TV via my AppleTV2 but not iPad8. With iPad8, it is given instead a message "This video is in a format that can't be streamed to your TV". Tried other videos and the result is the same.

Why and how to solve it? Please help.
