You used to be able open the picture click edit click on the pen and then have an option to put a red circle or a red box around an object in a picture. I don't see that anymore.
Why has Apple’s update made this task of circling an object within a photo so difficult when it used to be so simple?
For all that want this fixed, make sure to send Apple feedback. They won't see it here.
I still can’t figure it out. Can someone please give me instructions? This is by far the worst part of the new update.
Apparently there’s a link by one of the members that describes how shapes are made on an iMac. It’s now how iOS works. In edit-mode you pick a pen/brush/marker, then a color, then sketch a rough shape with your finger of a circle/oval, square/rectangle, arrow, whatever - but wait, don’t lift your finger, the app guesses what you tried to draw and replaces it (what you just drew) with a perfect shape! Yippee! But hopefully you drew it exactly where you wanted it, because you can’t move it! Sad face

Bettygirl1015, check out my answer. It’s a bit complex and you can’t move the shape once you draw it
The point is that it has become so tedious. It use to be a very simple process

I am rarely doing these things on my iPhone or iPad, as I am usually carrying my MacBooAir with me. In Photos on my Mac the transparent interior is still the default, and I hope it will stay this way.
Since Apple has nothing to offer in its upcoming iPhone 16 or iPhone 17, hence they would proudly bringing back the red circle shape and claim it as New Feature. What a poor approach on part of Apple.
First, select Add Shape, and a solid shape filled with gray will be added to the image (a very silly design). After selecting the shape to be edited, there will be 4 buttons at the bottom, click the third one. In the secondary menu, pull the Opacity slider to the far left, and then return to the previous menu - there are four buttons at the bottom. that. At this point, the two buttons on the left will come into play. The first one is used to select a color, and the second one is used to adjust the border thickness. Once upon a time, this was simple, but now it has become so complex.

I hope more read this post because it tells you how to do it. No, it's not as easy as the old way but it's not that bad either.
