I was gifted a $20 Apple Store gift card that I uploaded into the App Store, but whenever I try to purchase something I am unable to use the money already in my account.

If you have enough money in your Apple Account balance, all you have to do is -> you need to set your Apple Account balance as your default payment.

It still won’t work because to verify it I need the original gift card that I no longer have anymore.
What do you mean?
In your start post you say:

That means you have redeem the your Apple Gift Card and the $20 is your Apple Account balance.
When redeeming a gift card, the amount will be credited to your Apple Account balance and you can set your Apple ID balance as your default payment.
I received a $20 apple gift card store gift card for my birthday and I used the code to redeem it and now the balance is in my account. However whenever I try to use the $20 listed in my account balance I am unable to without redeeming another gift card even though I already have sufficient funds in my account from that gift card before.
It still won’t work because to verify it I need the original gift card that I no longer have anymore. Is there any other way to verify it?
