Parental Settings Not Updating on Child’s Phone after iOS 17.2 Update

Parental controls seem to not work EVERY TIME Apple pushes a new update. Why is this?

How do I get parental controls to work? They work on one child’s phone but not the other. I have a 13 Pro. The phone it’s not working on is a 14 and the phone it works on is a 13 mini.

We all have updated our iOS to the most current. Apple needs to get their crap together!

Hi talina273,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. From your post you mentioned having iOS 17.2. This specific version is not available and the latest update that's available to the public is iOS 17.0.3. Our recommendation is to ensure that each device is updated to this software version, as it provides software improvements that can help. If needed, here's how to update the software:

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.An iPhone showing the option to download and install the update

These steps are outlined in this article: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Then, let's you'll want to verify and make sure that the parental controls you'd like to enable on your child's device is properly configured by reviewing these steps: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Kind regards.
