Current update for 17.0 iPhone

I do not want to have the latest software update on my iPhone 12.

How do I stop the notifications?

Go to -> Settings -> Software Update -> Automatic Updates:

Automatically Install & Automatically Download -> iOS Updates turn if OFF.

Updates? Are they necessary? I just updated my iPhone XS and now it is telling me to update again!
