Standard Ethernet port on MacStudio not working!

If I plug my ethernet cable directly into the computer's native ethernet port, it says that it's not connected. If I connect the ethernet cable into a USB-C adaptor and then into one of the USB-C ports, it works, but of course losing a USB-Port, not ideal. Anyone else having this problem? I wonder if it's a software or hardware issue.

The built-in Ethernet port on the Mac studio is 1 Gigabit and higher ONLY. It does not support cables with only two-pairs of wires, and does not support 100 M bits/sec speeds at all.

Once it can make an initial connection, it is recommended you turn OFF energy-efficient Ethernet features if you want responsiveness, and turn OFF ABV/AEV mode unless you are ONLY streaming video -- Enabling ABV/AEV mode disables error recovery.

If your router tops out at 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet speed) on its LAN ports, there are a couple of ways that you can fix the incompatibility between the router's "Fast Ethernet or lower" port and the Mac Studio's "Gigabit Ethernet or higher" port.

One would be what you did – to add a 100 Mbps Ethernet interface to the computer. Another would be to replace the router with one that has Gigabit Ethernet ports on the LAN side.

Servant of Cats has made some good observations.

The (now obsolete) Apple AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time capsule both featured Gigabit Ethernet, and those two are so OLD they are not even sold anymore.

The last several routers I bought all have at lLeast Gigabit Ethernet on all user ports, and some have one (typically Network port) even faster. One has a 2.5 G port, another has a 10G port.
