My multi-port USB-C hub/ethernet adapter is not working for my MacBook Pro

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my multi-port USB-C hub Ethernet adapter on my MacBook Pro M2 running macOS Sonoma 14.6. The adapter works perfectly on an older MacBook, but the Ethernet connection doesn’t seem to function on the MacBook Pro M2.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do I need to install any specific drivers or software to get it working on the MacBook Pro M2? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

settings/preferences > network

is an ethernet interface shown?

if not, use the Add [+] button below the list of interfaces, and see if there is one that can be added. (This is equivalent to Windows "add a driver" )

That adapter specs says it supports macOS 10.2 and above. That's from a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Don't be too surprised if it is not supported any longer.

You have VPN with a status listed. if you have ANY TRACE of VPN software present, that will completely derail ANYTHING you want to do with communications. You will need to completely un-install that software with the software-maker's Un-installer.

just disabling it will not suffice.

Thank you for your response.

I checked the settings > network, but I can’t see any USB driver or services listed when trying to add a new service, as shown in the screenshot below.

Do you have any other suggestions on how I can resolve this issue?
