how can I switch profile still using one window? can we do that?

It's not completely true that one can only switch profile on start or empty page in one window. The article should further specify that switching is possible if and only if there are no open tabs in that very window. How is that ever going to be useful?

I think I didn't quite understand what you were asking in your other thread. It seems to me that the assumption, which makes perfect sense to me, is that profiles allow you to have different sets of preferences (bookmarks, etc) for different profiles. This allows you to have windows open for work, for personal. It's doesn't appear to be designed to be like user switching where the other user becomes unavailable when you switch.

But, you can certainly let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

That assumption is perfectly valid for me too. It's the part that follows that doesn't make much sense : how can it be logical to have profiles work only if they are open in different windows at the same time? No wonder this topic is discussed in multiple threads here and on fan Apple magazines already: Apple didn't seem to have involved actual users much when developing profiles. Thanks for the link, I'll certainly let them know.

It seems that you are talking about profiles in Safari.

Different profiles are meant to help users keep different activities like work, school or personal, SEPARATE.

What would be the point of having them work on the same window? What am I missing?

“profile switching in the same window” is the key concept.
