Also make sure you select haptics that you can notice by using the haptics menus within each sound (ringtone, message tone etc). For example for me the synchronised haptics for ringtones were too subtle, once I’d altered the haptic to ‘alert’ I could feel my phone vibrate again when on silent.

I managed to get this to work, I'm on IOS 17.1.2

Under "Settings", select "Sounds and Haptics"

Haptics is set to "Always play", (so it vibrates on silent and when off silent)

Select Ringtone

Scroll up to the top of the page where it says "Haptics"

I changed this from Synchronised (default) to one of the standard alerts like "Alert" which gives a stronger vibrate.

Exit from settings and test.

Hi, so I stumbled on a solution to this issue. Go to settings, Sound and Haptics, then select Ringtone. Once here, scroll up to Haptics, select and then create a new vibration under custom. Once created, name it and then select this custom haptics as your new vibration mode. Then go back to the Sound and Haptics landing page, select Haptics and then select play in silent mode.

Now once your phone is on vibrate mode, the custom haptics pattern you just made will always vibrate for your phone calls.

Hope this helps…

I’m having this issue too. I *may* have figured out how to change it to at least be able to feel the alert/vibration when on silent is I went to settings > sounds & haptics > ringtone> haptics> create new vibration and then held down for a bit and made a different pattern that was more intense and was actually noticeable. I labeled and applied it and we will see. This is otherwise frustrating because I am also missing calls and alerts when I want my phone ringer off and trying to be a little more discrete. Something is not right with this update - but I hope this helps someone for now.
