My iPhone will not vibrate on silent after doing the new iOS 17 update

I spent hours making suggested changes, online and live chat with Apple Support, and Genius bar only to be told that because I have an Apple watch, that the notifications will only come to my watch. I keep my watch and phone on silent and depend on the vibration to notify me if I have a text. It is hit or miss on whether my watch notifies me of messages and I very rarely get notification from someone texting me from an Android. I am regretting upgrading my phone and wish I had my old one back. Apple-please fix this issue!

The solution is in Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback > toggle haptics on

I am having the same issue with the intensity of the vibration of my phone after the update 17.1. I rely on feeling my phone notify me as I don't like it to ring in public. Please let me know how to fix this flaw.

I am having this issue too - the new operating system appears to have completely replaced the strong buzz that happened before with a very weak vibrate that I can barely hear (when it's out of my pocket) and barely feel (when it's in my pocket)

After that 17.1.1 update I am having the same NONE vibrating issues. Settings are the same as they were before and nothing. Haptics on. Nothing. I like my phone to vibrate when a phone call or text comes through as I leave the sound off not to disturb anyone near me or while I’m at work. Please help Apple!! There’s a bug.

iPhone 14 updated to 17.1.1 and now I have no vibrate function or any notifications on front screen so I can only see if I have a message or email etc if I sctually go into the app. Tried everything and still nothing. Please help as need these functions.

There is no “alert” in haptics. When you click haptics the options are “always play”, “play in silent mode”, “don’t play in silent mode” and “never play”.

i have “always play” with silent mode and sometimes it vibrates on a text and sometimes it doesn’t. Even with emergency bypass on.

Same here. I had sound and haptics on, ringer on missed two calls today. Does Apple do QA anymore? Its simply ridiculous that a PHONE won't ring or vibrate on a call. It shouldn't require so many questions and answers for such a basic function

Have tried all suggestions from heptics accesebility etc switched off and still no vibration and still no numbers coming up on widgets to notify me of messages or what’s app or snap chat etc. looked at all notifications and they are set same as pre 17.1.1 update. So wish I had not done this update as it’s caused more problems and given me stuff like… while talking on FaceTime I can have balloons or hearts… so helpful but would rather my notifications working and the vibrate on silent please. Any help appreciated

I tried the accessibility - touch and mine was already set to default. Haptics is on still no vibrate

Why is Apple not monitoring this channel and fixing what is obviously a bug?

I don't give a hoot about balloons while Facetiming, I want to not have missed calls.

After updating to the new ios17 now my phone does not vibrate but makes the new rebound sound on silent.

my phone should not make noise on silent, every alert now makes this sound when it should be silenced. As far as I can tell all settings are the same from before the update.

I have also tried all of the suggestions in this thread, and nothing works. My phone does vibrate when texted and in silent mode, but the vibration strength is very gentle - so gentle as to make it very easy to miss. I tried making a custom vibration, but that does not affect the intensity. I have an iPhone 14, and updated to IOS 17.1.2

This is a pretty major headache for me, as I have missed numerous important calls and texts.

Lately I hate Apple.

The company is making the devices work worse and worse.

Instead of improving security, they change the appearance and settings of familiar and convenient functions.

It looks like Apple ended when Steve passed away.

I seriously wondered where to find a normal smartphone with a well-functioning OS. If anyone knows, please let me know.

There are serious problems with mobile technology.

Stopped by Apple store in Staten Island mall for help but looks like I know all phone settings better.

I updated to 17.1.2 and receive no vibration when text messages come through. All the appropriate settings are enabled, this worked fine in iOS 16.

SO frustrating! I've missed some important notifications.

Can't you fix this, Apple??

My phone DOES vibrate,

on silent.

After the recent update however.

my call and text notifications.

have gotten much weaker.

I do not like to have my ringer on,

I just don’t like the noise.

and my voicemail used to be non functioning before the update.

I preferred when I could not receive voicemail.

you made my silent more silent so I never know I’m getting calls and fixed my voicemail so the 50 calls a day I used to notice vibrating are generating new “ hey call me back real quick*click*” messages.

very annoying.

I'm not looking for you to tell me how to fix it because I know it’s the last software update.

Im just complaining as somebody who was making good use out of the way it was
