How to stop Scribble from randomly adding new lines in the middle of my text

When attempting to write using Scribble, I continually get new lines (often more than one) whenever I pause writing. Since there is no backspace control. It becomes virtually impossible to continue writing when I left off. Even using the backspace control on the pop up keyboard will not keep Scribble from beginning my text one or two lines down from the current cursor position.

Because of this, Scribble is essentially useless to me. I spend far more time correcting errors than it would take me to hunt-and-peck out on a touch keyboard one character at a time.
