Disabling dotted blue line and suggested text in Mark Up app for word puzzles

Using a stylus in the Mark Up app to do crosswords and other word puzzles on downloaded PDFs and turning off the Predictive Text and Auto Correct toggles in the Keyboard settings doesn't stop the dotted blue line and suggested text from appearing. Also tried to change the settings in Notes, but no luck. Any suggestions for how to completely disable this dotted blue line autocorrect? When it appears, I cannot write anything else near it, until it goes away in 30-60 seconds.

Have you tried turning Scribble off?

Settings > Apple Pencil > Scribble and toggle the switch to off

I do recall having seen other questions about this issue but not what (if any) the solution was. You might want to try searching the forums.

Sorry, I can't find anything else. And I only have a vague memory of reading about it before.

Have you considered trying a third-party app? I don't know if Acrobat Reader lets you annotate or not but I'd start there.
