Custom Ringtones no longer syncing to iPhone 6

My 7 custom ringtones have worked since I first created and

added them to my iPhone 4. They migrated successfully to my iPhone 6 in late

2014 and worked until 3 days ago, now they no longer appear as a choice under Settings

-> Sounds -> Ringtones.

I have resynced 10 times and rebooted both the Mac and the

phone several times. I have renamed the m4r files and edited the tags on a separate

PC and then copied them back over to the Mac and placed them in the ‘Tones’

folder under the iTunes Media’ folder. I have also tried adding them to the “Automatically

Add to iTunes” folder and even tried adding them to the “Automatically Add to

Music” folder, syncing after every change to no avail.

I used the iFunBox app to take a peek in the folder where

the ringtones use to be stored and there are no m4r files to be found there.

I was about to purchase a new iPhone 15 Pro Max, but the

overheating issue gave me pause and now I need to be sure I can get the custom

ringtones to work on my current iPhone so I can feel comfortable that I can get

them to work on the iPhone 15 when I order it.

I’ve read every support article I could locate and tried all

of the suggestions. If anyone has a solution for me I will be eternally

grateful.
