Audio Red After Updating OS

Every time I go through an OS update on my MacBook Pro, I lose proper audio function in Final Cut Pro. If I restart my machine or open FCPX fresh, it’s fine for about an hour or so, then the audio will suddenly turn red. I can still hear and manipulate it fine, but I can’t see the visual audio waves, which I use when I’m editing.

This has happened with the last two updates, and both times it eventually resolved on its own, leading me to believe a patch was sent through. Does anyone know a way to fix it immediately however ?

Thanks!

Have you reset FCP preferences? Whenever it behaves strangely, it's an easy thing to try. Hold Command and Option while launch FCP and click Delete Preferences... It will open with the default Untitled library. Open the library you were working on, set the preferences back to the way you like (disable background rendering, Leave files in place, etc.) and see if the issue is resolved.

If not, we'll need more info to help. What is the audio media? Run an https://etrecheck.com report after giving it Full Disk Access in System Settings->Privacy & Security and paste the report into your reply here using the "Additional text" button below.
