My phone number won’t connect to iMessages. I keep getting the error message: “Activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage again to try again.” This occurred 4 days ago and I’ve spent over 12 hours at the Genius Bar and at Verizon. No one has answers.

I’ve tried:

  • restarting my phone
  • logging out of iCloud
  • restarting my network
  • toggling on/off messages
  • buying a new phone…
  • Verizon deleted my eSIM
  • Airplane mode > turning off iMessages > turning off FaceTime > turning service back on > turning iMessages and FaceTime back on > restarting phone > waiting over 24 hours
  • 2 visits to the Genius Bar
  • phone calls with Verizon support
