Pages - "Open Recent" does not display documents

I'm using Pages within iCloud in OS 13.6 and OS 14.0 and find that when I open 'File' > 'Open Recent' to see the last 10 documents, all I see what looks like a button saying "Clear Menu"

I have been using Pages since June on the Mac Studio Ultra and it's only recently I have noticed this problem.

I know It worked on OS 13.4, and 13.5 I'm not sure about OS 13.6 because I recently upgraded and I upgraded to OS 14 today.

I have checked other OS Apps and they all have the same issue. In the 'Finder' side bar I have a category called 'Recent' that does show files of various extensions so there seems to be something recorded.

Does anyone know if there is an option to switch this feature on?

What could I have done to loose this functionality?

Is it a bug?

Any help would be appreciated.

You are welcome. This setting was never in the Pages application settings, but was in System Preferences : General for a long while until Apple decided to change the System Preferences panel to a game of chance.

In Sonoma, one can enter recent in the search box and the first result is the System Settings : Control Center panel with the Recent counter at the bottom of it:

Hi VikingOSX,

That's wonderful problem solved.

It's strange that this is so hard to find. I'm sure that option was either set or found on the app preferences itself in previous OS versions.

Also, I actually pay for AppleCare and had a phone support session with an Apple "expert" but he did not point me to this System Setting either. I was very explicit about the problem, yet could not offer your advice.

So thanks, great job.
