Apple ID recovery - no call or text

Good evening….long story short my IPhone 14 screen got destroyed by a recliner, to the point the screen won’t come on and the phone is unusable. The next morning I purchased an IPhone 15 Pro but forgot my password to my Apple account. I clicked on forgot password but it was sending the text message/validation prompts to the phone I can’t do anything with. At this point, I started the Apple ID recovery process (twice now) and on both occasions I have gotten an email saying I will get a call or text on X date and time, but after waiting days I get nothing. I’m not sure if they are sending a text that I can’t get on my old phone or what, but I’m getting very frustrated as I don’t know what to do next. I’ve called Apple on two occasions to be told there is nothing they can do as it’s handled by the recovery team. Anyone experienced similar and if so were you (and how) able to resolve?

Hi HBPaul, I'm experiencing the same thing - requesting a password reset with no text or call after the 72 hour waiting period twice. I Googled this question and saw this message thread, so I'm now hopefully if I turn off my old phone and turn off the watch I may finally get something. After some time passed and possibly disconnecting your watch or turning it off, were you able to receive a text and/or call to reset the password?

Hello HBPaul,

We would call out this specific section on starting account recovery: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password

After you start account recovery

After you request account recovery, you get an email with a confirmation of your request and the date and time of when you can expect to regain access. This email arrives within 72 hours.

* If you submitted your account recovery request with iforgot.apple.com through your device's browser, you should avoid using that device during this period. Using that device might cancel account recovery.

* To avoid delays, turn off other devices that are signed in with your Apple ID until account recovery is complete.

When the wait period is over, Apple sends you a text or automated phone call with instructions to regain access to your account. Follow the instructions to regain access to your Apple ID.
In some cases, you might be able to speed up the account recovery process or reset your password immediately by verifying a six-digit code sent to your primary email address. You might also be able to shorten the wait time by providing credit-card details to confirm your identity. If you’re given this option, an authorization request goes to the card issuer.*

Check the status of your request

At any time, you can see how long it will be until your account is ready for recovery, or when more information will be available. Just go to iforgot.apple.com and enter your Apple ID.

If you continue to use the device that started the process, this can result in delays and can cancel account recovery.

If you have additional questions about the process, then it would be best to contact Apple Support directly: Get Support

Wishing you well.

Take care.

Hi HBPaul,

If we understand your post, you've started the account recovery process but have not received a message with a code to regain access. To clarify, did you start the process multiple times? If so, it would start over, so you'd want to start only one account recovery request. Also, be sure you're following the advice in the "After you start account recovery" section of this link to avoid delays: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support

Otherwise, account recovery is automated and Apple does not have a way to expedite it, but you can use this link to reach Apple for any follow-up questions: Get Support

Take care.

Thanks and that’s helpful - couple of additional questions. I can’t tell if the damaged phone is turned off because I can’t see the screen. Also, my Apple Watch is signed in to the Apple account in question. I’m assuming that is the culprit and likely why I haven’t gotten the text or call. Could that be the issue?
