I went into my messages app to find that all four of my pinned conversations were unpinned and 3 of the four conversations completely wiped. The fourth conversation only had two messages in it. Even messages that I sent today are gone from the others. My messages are only set to expire after a year and I've never had this happen before. I'm on IOS 16.6.1 on iPhone 14 Pro Max.

There are different reasons why this may occur. We have a great support article that might help with this. Please take a look at it here: Recover deleted text messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Follow this guidance:
"How to retrieve a deleted message or conversation
3. Choose the conversations with the messages you want to restore, then tap Recover.
4. Tap Recover Message or Recover [Number] Messages.
You need iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later to recover deleted messages and conversations. You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days. If you delete a message before you update to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later, you can't recover that message.
