iPhone 15 Pro Max front camera is black

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

• Press and quickly release Volume UP button
• Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
• Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF). 

(2)  If that does not help, then contact 👉 Official Apple Support OR you can always get your iPhone examined at the Apple Store 👉 Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options or at an Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and evaluation.

***Update: my front facing camera had to be replaced. My son also experience an issue not long after mine and he has a 15 pro. The up volume button wouldn’t work. Had to be completely replaced as well. Something is up with these phones.

also as a side note, the little two inch line that kept moving is a balance line, allows you to see if your camera is straight. Even apple techs didn’t know about this….

My front facing camera has been going black since I got it a few months ago. Initially I could restart my phone and the problem would be solved. This time my phone went black and nothing fixes it. It also has a two inch white line that moves. It won’t work on other apps either. I took it in yesterday and diagnostics said the sensor is not detecting the camera, so it is clearly a defect. They want to replace it at the risk of data loss and the loss of my screen protector which will not be replaced, even though I bought it at this exact store, and it’s not my fault there is a defect. Last time I had an apple tech “fix” my phone I ended up with data loss and a brand new phone after three hours because they broke it. Needless to say, I’m not excited about this and very upset. This phone is clearly defective. It also has heating issues but “that’s to be expected with a titanium phone.”

Troubleshooting a Black iSight Camera:

A. First, Go Here: If the Camera or Flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't Working - Apple Support

B. Uncover the Camera:

Is there anything covering the camera? If so, remove it.

C. Any Ungenuine Camera Message?:

Did you recently get the camera replaced? If so, contact the person(s) who performed the replacement, and have them place a genuine camera in there.See Here: About Genuine iPhone Cameras - Apple Support.  They should have known better.

The same issue happened to me on my new iPhone 15 pro. From the moment I opened my phone I noticed the camera is black while setting up my Face ID. It also didn’t work on any other application (facetime, Instagram, Facebook messenger). The cameras worked when I restarted my phone, but the issue keeps coming back for both front and rear cameras.

Does anyone who how to fix that?

Update your iPhone:

Though it may be hardware issues on your lens, it may be software issue, as well. So, try installing an update.

Is it fixed now? Experiencing this as well. Do I have to restart my iphone 15 pro all the time to fix this??? i hate this

Same thing with my boyfriend’s 15 pro. We have tried everything. Going to take it back to AT&T.
