Learn what steps to take if you can't add a card to the Wallet app to use with Apple Pay.


Check that you're able to use Apple Pay:


If you see the message "Could Not Add Card" or "Invalid Card," contact your bank or card issuer.


If you need help adding a card, learn how to 👉 set up Apple Pay.

Troubleshooting Adding a Method of Payment:


A. Use a Computer:

Perform this using a computer, as it would be more user-friendly doing so.


B. Add, then Delete.

You need at least one Method of Payment assigned to your account. This is because even free apps have their option for internal purchases. So, add the new method of payment, and then remove the one that is currently in there. Add a payment method to your Apple ID - Apple Support


C. If Declined: If your Payment Method is Declined in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support


No Success?

D. For Financial Assistance, Contact Apple Store Support. You need to contact Apple Support Directly. This is a User-to-User forum. We are all volunteers. So, as you may suspect, no one here has access to that information — and that is a good thing, BTW. That’s why for Financial Assistance, you need to contact Apple Support. They’ll see what’s going on and will run you through the fix.

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
