That is correct. You can't update an iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 16 (or higher).

You can do so by using the Maps app on your iPhone 7 Plus to locate the nearest Apple Store or an authorized reseller. They can set you up with iOS 17, which is 1 better than iOS 16.

Bring some money with you.

You realize you are speaking with someone who wants to put iOS 16 on their iPhone 7, right? If they can't run iOS 16 on an iPhone 7, how would you even presume they can get iOS 17, no matter how much money they bring, unless you were suggesting they buy a new iPhone?

It’s the latter; a how-to for navigating to a new or Apple refurb iPhone.

Hello and welcome to the thread.

If you are running iOS 15 (currently 15.8.2), then you are running the latest available iOS version.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are not supported on iOS 16 and later.

If you have an app that requires iOS 16 or later, you will need a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone.

Any recent iPhone will be substantially more capable than an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, as well.

I need to update my device to iOS 17 so I can watch cat videos on YouTube. The model number of my device is H1000. Please advise.

The YouTube app works on iOS 14 and later, and can usually be viewed on the website on older versions.

If you have an iPhone X, iPhone SE 1st gen, or earlier, and need iOS 17, then you’ll need a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone.

For assistance with what is probably a Casio H1000 series watch, contact Casio.

That's correct. You can't update iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 16. You will never be able to update it past iOS 15.8.2.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a future 15.8.3 bug/security patch update.

But as you correctly point out, that phone will never run iOS 16 or later.

I have an I Phone 7 Plus that looks like it just came out of the box. I had several apps stop working recently, and upon investigation, found out it is due to my not being able to upgrade the devices software to ios 16 or higher that is now required for these apps.

Can Apple not create a patch that will allow my apps to run on my otherwise perfectly fine phone, or is this just more planned obsolescence in order to force me to spend another $1200 or more on a new phone I don’t really need because I take care of my stuff???

This is not $12, or $120, it is $1200 that I don’t really have to throw away on another phone… And in actuality, we (my family and I) have 4 phones that would all need to be replaced, so we are talking more like $5000, soooo WTF Help…
