Can't answer phone calls on MacBook Pro

I'm logged in to iCloud on both devices (iPhone 13, iOS 17.0.3 and MB Pro, OS 14.0). Was hoping the upgrade to Sonoma would cure it, but no luck. I went through the setup and everything seems correct.

Phone calls not coming in Whenever I get a phone call, the call gets disconnected (the caller gets the message that "dialed number is busy"), and on my phone it says - "answered on another device". When the caller tries again, the call comes through. Following features have been switched off from the phone settings - Calls on Other Devices Wi-Fi Calling Call Forwarding Handoff I have also changed the password for iCloud and logged out of all other devices (Mac Studio, Macbook, iPad). I have toggled the focus (do not disturb) on and off multiple times. What else can I do to fix this?

phone call rings on MAC, but not my phone. when on my MAC. a phone call will ring on my MAC, but not my. phone? I woulike the call to ring on both devices. If not, then just h cancel the ability to accept calls on the MAC
