Explicit songs remain after screen time restriction

I've set screen time for my children for clean lyrics. In spite of this setting songs with explicit lyrics remain playable on their devices. They are not greyed out as they should be.

I've checked their accounts to ensure they're the ones on screen time and rechecked the settings many times. I've even deleted and reinstalled the Music app.

Does anyone else have suggestions for what I can try next beyond just restating the basic setup steps for screen time?

I may have figured it out (but I still don't know why it worked). Here’s what I did:

  • deleted playlists with explicit songs (not sure this was necessary)
  • Set screen time setting for music to explicit
  • Restarted the phone and then set it back to explicit
  • When I checked music again, the explicit songs were greyed out.

Hope this helps.
