No Service after iOS 17.0.3 Update

i got a notification to update my iPhone 14 promax to iOS 17.03 which I did. After the update, my device has been displaying no service. I have done all the recommended solutions on google ( removed and reinserted the sim, reset settings, hard restart, no iOS update). Is there any other option to explore?

Can you please advise me if you have found any solution?

I upgraded my 12 pro to 17.3.1 the other day and the network is gone too.

HI, I had a vpn profile which work before the update (Private Internet Access PIA profile and home VPN profile).

I removed all the vpn profiles and i had network connectivity via wifi and cellular back!.

Here the steps I followed:

  • To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.

  • Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

Follow up to this...

I went to the ATT store in person, rather than get a new phone number, a new eSIM was created on the 15 Pro Max phone. It still did not work.

Transferred the eSIM to the old 12 Pro Max (which had been factory reset in preparation to trade in) and the internet on Cell Data appeared to work.

Transferred the eSIM back to the new 15 Pro Max and the internet on Cell Data did not work.

The assumption was, something no longer installed or configured on the factory reset phone cleared out the problem but when returning back to the 15 Pro Max (which was transferred previously) this transfer between devices may have brought the corruption with it.

It was suggested once again to work with the Apple folks for additional troubleshooting (with the possibility of maybe identifying possible app problems or other diagnostics on the 15 Pro Max.

Diagnostics on the new phone passed without any apparent problems (the previous diagnostics on the 12 Pro Max were not there on the new phone so at a minimum some of the previously diagnostic problems were no longer a problems - i.e., the battery and/or wireless recharging did not appear to have problems any more).

It was suggested to Factory reset the new phone

After factory reset (without any apps installed yet), the phone internet over Cell Data worked.

There is no way to "selectively restore" files so it was necessary to go to the App Store, select the profile, and Purchases apps, and reinstall apps of interested.

Start reloading apps (not based on a iCloud backup) to help isolate if there was a specific app which might have been causing the problem or the corruption.

I used this as an opportunity to reduce the apps on my phone and focus on the ones I use more commonly.

Because the "iCloud backup" was not used at the time, many of my customizations were lost (i.e., my apps in folders - having to reorganized apps [unable to do so on PC either as iTunes app management not possible that I could tell at the moment], my preferences, and some app data which while may have been backed up to iCloud where not able to be restored per an "iCloud Restore" or "app data stored in the cloud"). As one example, one of my password management apps was unable to be restored fully so I lost some of by passwords.

As of this moment the phone appears to still be working but was unable to identify a specific app that may have caused it.

Given some of this started when moving between locations, I'm curious if some sort of "roaming" activity could have in someway corrupted the SIMS, network, or connectivity and just got stuck that one. But I'm not sure.

My two daughters also had this same issue with their phones although oddly enough my husband or I had this problem at all. I did all the research you all had done and it got nowhere. Finally, I took it upon myself to try doing it on my own, and BAM! It worked. This is what I did to both iPhones that were running iOS 17.0.3. Let me know if it works for you as well.

  1. I put the phone in airplane mode
  2. connected to wifi but keep in airplane mode
  3. Settings- General - Software Update (you should now see a new update.. I had 17.1.1)
  4. KEEP the phone in airplane mode and connected to wifi until update is complete.

THAT IS IT!!! LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS FOR YOU!!

So here’s the strange part. I took it to an Apple Store and they said it was in fact a hardware issue, specifically water damage. They essentially replaced the entire phone other than camera and one other component. The phone I have now has an entirely new serial number and everything. I fail to see how a software update could have essentially destroyed the phone to the point that it wouldn’t even read SIM cards though. I’ve dropped my phone in the shower once or twice before but never had any issue with SIM card reading or anything of that nature. It was also going to be a 530 dollar repair without apple care, so if you are going to visit a location I suggest paying the 10 bucks for apple care before you take it in, because I have to almost assume the update killed my phone beyond repair, and they covered their *** by claiming it was water damaged. Incredibly strange circumstance, and seeing so many people in this discussion almost proves it couldn’t have been preexisting water damage or something like that.

I have the same issue before with my Iphone 12 Pro n need to send them back to my seller cause i bought outside the store . When i sent it to them they said it was the motherboard problem coz the IMEI number went missing. That totally freaked me out cause i just bought it, and it happened to me twice. Both happen after I update my IOS.

The first time i took to the seller n use my warranty. And the second time i fix by restored thru itunes and it fix the issue.

So from my observation it could happened either your storage was full or your internet while ur updating is too weak/slow.

So if this issue happens to you just try and restore first rather spending for a fix if ur warranty outdated. Well if it goes other way might bring it to the specialist. Good luck 💪🏻

This happened to me after downloading IOS 17.4.1. Apple wanted $500 for a repair and Verizon wanted me to get a new phone all together. Not satisfied with either of those options I did a factory reset as a last resort and regained service. Just be sure to backup all data to the cloud prior to factory reset. Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this issue.
