WiFi on iOS 17.0.3

Anyone else having horrible WiFi issues on iOS 17.0.3 it’s absolutely horrendous, Twitter is basically unusable with videos just not loading and posts taking forever to show up, TikTok videos just stop halfway through and don’t play anymore, Safari is astronomically slow, this is ridiculous

I was having the same issue and have fixed it… but you may not like the fix. It’s not as bad as it sounds but it’s a little drastic.

On my iPad Pro (6th gen) and iPhone 15, as soon as I updated to 17.0.3 of their respective operating systems… what a disaster. Extremely slow WiFi, rendering many apps unusable.

I had a similar problem years ago with some now-defunct OS. What finally fixed it was to reset all network settings and re-log-in to the WiFi. At that time, Apple Support had mentioned something about the update corrupting the saved configuration for some networks. Not in a way you could see from looking at your IP address, etc, but clearly screwed up. As Richard mentioned, nothing else on the network is having issues.

After the reset, full speed ahead on both the phone and the iPad. I did the reset sometime in the past 24 hours and both still have fast and stable WiFi connections.

Settings —> General —> Transfer or Reset iPhone. Once you’re in the Transfer or Reset screen, at the bottom you’ll see two buttons: Reset and Erase All Content. Click Reset, and then you get a bunch of options. Choose “Reset Network Settings,” which at least for me is the second choice. The phone will then give you the Apple logo with a progress bar which completes rather quickly and will reboot. You will of course need to manually rejoin whatever network.

All it does is completely clear the cache that contains your known networks and network passwords. I only use two networks, home and work, so it’s not too bad to manually rejoin them; I can imagine this to be painful if you use a lot of different networks. This solution has worked for me, though, and since I have seen this behavior in past OS updates I can’t help but think it’s the same issue.

I started having this same exact issue on my Ipad as well on oct 27th. (8th gen, ios 14.2, didn't have space to update) Every other device with wifi works, (also the wifi does connect, but nothing loads) Ipad doesn't. Went to buy a new one, the issue still persisted. Had messed with the router a couple times out of desperation.

For me the network reset did not work. It has been a week and anything I've tried refuses to work.

I'm honestly kind of baffled about how this mess of an issue can even work this way. If anyone finds any solutions I would greatly appreciate it.

I just want my files safe.

So I have 2 iPhones-one is for work- and I was having really bad wifi issues on both last night so I tried upgrading the work one to iOS 17.3 but today the internet pretty much didn’t work. I did your suggestion of resetting network settings. Unfortunately after I did that my phone wouldn’t let me join my wifi network. I know the password I’m using is correct. It just says unable to join. Meanwhile with my personal phone.. because I wanted to use it last night and turned wifi off to use data that paused the install of ios17.3 so now I’m afraid to update that phone although wifi is pretty much unusable on both phones at this point so I’m still using data.

I am glad the fix worked but they do sound like different problems. Mine has happened maybe three times total in the last 15 years or so on different phones with different iOS.

The consistent factor is it happens within a few days of updating iOS.

I feel like there’s something about doing the update that corrupts WiFi settings sometimes. Nothing like an inconsistent problem!
