I can't login Apple ID and widgets are not visible on Sonoma

First. I can't login Apple ID through "System Settings" > "Sign In"

  • I typed my id/password correctly and clicked the "Continue" button, It comes back to first "Sign In" page
  • There is nothing to show the information why I have failed the login
  • I tried to change my wifi and internet connection but it has the same problem too.

Failed to login

Second. The widgets I have are not visible like below

After I have updated my Mac to Sonoma, I used my Mac well awhile. But suddenly those problems occurred.

I'm really confused with these problems.. How can I get rid of these? Please help me as soon as you possible.

Apple ID sign in credentials have changed, I’ve not tried signing back in on Sonoma yet to test it, apart from signing in to use the App Store. This might be due to having to use Passkeys instead of keychain, I’m not entirely sure. If I recall - from what others said, there was a way to avoid using this new method by not clicking the x (exit) on the usual sign in pop up window. Not sure you can get that back now.

Until you can get signed into your iCloud account properly , the widgets won’t display because most of them are using iCloud settings.

I did a test on my other MacBook with Sonoma . I signed out of iCloud and as soon as I was, this thing popped up with no choice but to proceed. I signed in and it went ok. My iPhone received the verification code to Allow. Mine is ok but still have not tested on my other Mac

I would try it again . Restart your Mac and try signing in. If you get the verification code sent, you know you signed in ok and this is just the next step to complete the process. I use two factor authentication, I know some don’t and have no idea if this might be why some are having issues signing in.

Do keep in mind when you got signed out, Find My Mac might have been turned off. It told me mine was until I signed in. Good luck!
