AirTag interfering with key fob

My AirTag is causing the battery in my key fob it drain within a few days every time I put a new battery. It is a 2023 Lexus RX. The dealer told me to stop using the AirTag and that has resolved the issue. Any other options where I can still use the AirTag?

Just for reference, the Apple AirTag has a built-in Bluetooth beacon, that broadcasts its location information every 3-5 mins. It is a very low power beacon with a range of around 30'.

If your Lexus key fob also uses Bluetooth, my guess is that it only sends a signal when pressed. If its battery is draining rapidly, would indicate (to me) that this fob is broadcasting constantly. How the AirTag can interfere with that fob, specifically on draining it battery is unknown to me.

FWIW, I don't have a 2023 Lexus, or any model Lexus, but have a number of vehicles that employ remote key fobs ... and none of them have had any issues with the AirTags connected to the same keychain as the fob with draining their batteries. Could it be that your particular key fob is defective?

So far, after removing the AirTag, I have had no issues and it has been a week. I have had the car for 1 month. First week, key fob fine. Second week, I added the AirTag and key fob started acting up within 3 days and then spotty and then dead. Repeat this 3 times I changed the battery about every 5 days. Went to the dealer and they advised me it was the AirTag. I removed the AirTag and the key fob has been fine for a week so far.
