why cant I swipe my iwatch to silence or or find my phone any longer after update

Before the last update on my iwatch, I could swipe and my setting showed several settings - find my iphone, airplane mode, silence etc... this is gone now and I used it all the time. From the information I have seen, I now have to go into a variety of apps , individually find the setting, then tap and follow screens, etc... Why in the world would apple change a very simple swipe setting to make thing smore complicated. I swiped almost every day to silence or turn off the silence and the find my phone setting so easy. Is there a way to get this back????
