I am suddenly unable to connect my iMac to Frontier's mail server

I'm running an M1 iMac with ventura.

Frontier email accessed through mail suddenly stopped working yesterday. I have three POP mail accounts and all stopped working. Can neither send or receive and get a message that it can not connect to the server. I can still access the accounts on my iPhone and iPad.

I spent an hour working with the Frontier chat guy making sure I have the right servers listed & etc and we can't seem to get the connection. He gave up and said I should ask Apple as they must have changed something.

He even tried to set up a new account on my macmail and got the same problem. Get the same messages, etc. Like "can't verify settings", etc.

Any advice? Email was fine Friday & dead on Saturday.

I am distraught. Going elsewhere will not solve my issue as my email address is commonly used across my life.

Mine are working now again. Frontier must have had some kind of translation table or something they were using for certain legacy email addresses (from internet service providers they had bought out) and forgot about that when they made some kind of recent move involving their mail servers.

Below are server addresses that I'm using now, and for now at least they work. My previous server settings did not reference yahoo at all. Mind you these are not Yahoo setups in the Apple Mail client. They are set up in the "other" category if you're re-adding them after deleting setups that no longer work.

for incoming, use frontier.pop.mail.yahoo.com

for outgoing, use frontier.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

This may or may not resolve your Frontier pop mail problems. I might just be having my ten minutes of good luck.

When I did a chat with Frontier last night (same problem, have Frontier popmail setups on an M1 MacBook Air running Ventura, suddenly can't access those accounts except via webmail), the tech rep said yes they have many similar support calls coming in, that their engineers are aware of the issue and were working on it, that it was not related to my setups but was an issue with their servers.

He suggested using webmail in the meantime. That sounded great last night. Tonight maybe not so much. But it's a weekend.... and who knows if Frontier even really works on weekends any more. After their bankruptcy reorg, they may have operational cost constraints that don't allow for overtime etc. Although you'd think if they have a server side mail issue they'd have to deal with it. Sigh. It's exasperating. Hope they weren't hacked.

Thanks. It's encouraging to know it's not just me. Misery loves a little company.

I spent over an hour+ in a chat with a Frontier rep trying to set up my email with the whole remote screen access routine. It's all set up right but it won't let me log onto the servers. He gave up and said I'd need to contact Apple. I'll save my nerves and not bother Apple but bug Frontier again sometime today.

I'll use webmail in the interim. Oddly my iPhone and iPad both work for mail. Also a Gmail acct on my iMac works.

I’m having the same problem. It started yesterday. I have talked to Frontier twice and first they told me it was an Apple problem and then told me they were working on the issue. I also talked to Apple support and they said the problem is with something Frontier has done. At around 5:30 last evening I had several emails come through but they didn’t completely load so it must have been working for a minute. Very very frustrating!

My Frontier mail setups have now QUIT WORKING again. And again there is nothing I have changed in my setups. The webmail access works fine, but I cannot access these pop accounts through the Apple Mail client. This is infuriating.

Well at least it's no longer the weekend. I will be looking for something better in the way of info from Frontier's tech support again first thing Wednesday if the situation remains the same. "We're working on it, okay?" doesn't cut it any more. My own mantra's going to become "can you spell Public Service Commission?" pretty soon. I need a better explanation of what Frontier has done to make their servers stop processing mail properly through the Apple Mail client app.

The SAME thing happened to mine last week. I have talked with Frontier. They told me they were experiencing an issue. I talked with Apple support. They confirmed my settings, as did Frontier - - but still no emails downloading to my Mac mail program. I have had lots of connection issues with Frontier thru the years. Many are probably due to my rural location. This is a separate thing - and I am frustrated.
