Mac virus

when I open safari I get a pop up notification

“1903611371752760934” wants access to control “Safari”. Allowing control will provide access to documents and data in “Safari”, and to perform actions within that app.

this also seems related to not allowing me launch google chrome on the same computer

I had some issues before with something called leadingloading service something like this which will control the search engine on my chrome.

any ideas ? this is very annoying basically can't work on this machine

Download and run Etrecheck. Be sure to give it Full Disk access before running.

Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.

Then we can evaluate the report to see if we can determine the cause of the problem.

Thanks.

1 - there were no extensions.

2 - Under login items, I found a section "Allow in the Background", and I a lot of weird stuff was there and all of them were "checked" - see picture. I unchecked all of them except dropbox. it looks like this resolves the issue with the Safari annoying notification. I have to check what happens with my other issue of google chrome not able to start. How I find those applications and remove them all together though ?

If you've blocked Web notifications, I wonder if it is a Safari extension.

Go into Safari > Settings… (might be called Safari > Preferences… on your machine) and click on the Extensions tab. See if you installed some Safari extension that you might not want.

Another thing you might check is Login Items. This is in General Settings under Ventura, but I think it used to live off the Users & Groups Preferences. See if there is any application set to automatically start up when you log in / start up that looks suspicious.
