Macbook Air hard drive storage

Hi All,

On my Macbook Air (256GB), around 100GB is taken up by 'System Data'. I checked with another Macbook Air owner (we have the same exact model) and he has only around 25GB of System Data.

Are there any ways I could reduce the amount of space taken up by this system data or not?

Thanks in advance.

With such a small disk, my 2016 MBP has the same size, you're bound to have space issues sooner or later.

What I did when nothing else worked was to make several backups, wipe the drive and reinstall the OS. I did not fully restore my backup data ... just the personal files. I didn't want to "corrupt" the new OS installation with possibly flawed settings on the backups.

Here is what I did: Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

I'm not recommending you do this, just pointing out what worked for me. I simply got to the point where enough was enough.
