I am being able to update my iOS to 17
I am on iPhone iOS 16.02, am trying to update it to 17 it redirects me to the storage section even though I had 6.5 GB free space and iOS 17 takes up to 3.9 GB. What would be the problem?

Try to free up at least 2-3 GB more, and see these suggestions:
Assuming you're trying to update your device wirelessly, and bearing in mind that to perform such a procedure you need to connect your device to a reliable and fast Wifi Network with Internet access (no cellular data, unless you use a 5G network, no personal hotspot on your device, no VPN connections are admitted, no Low Power Mode enabled, and I suggest that you keep the device plugged into power during the whole update process), read this support article:--> If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won’t update (if you don't have a reliable and fast wifi network, "borrow" one from your relatives/friends/neighbors).
Also, make sure your device is NOT running a Beta operating system version. Should be this case, you need to remove it before installing any official iOS/iPadOS releases, as per these instructions:--> How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software - Apple Support.
DO NOT forget to create a full backup of your device before updating its operating system, and keep in mind that, depending on the available storage on your device and/or on your wifi network speed, it might take 30-60 minutes to complete the entire update process.
If the issue persists, try to update it via computer (if you don't have a computer borrow one from your friends/neighbors, or ask for help at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider), then learn how to update your device manually if you're using a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or if you're using a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier or a Windows PC.

Try and update via a pc or Mac instead this uses less space on your iPhone
Update your iPhone using a Mac with macOS Catalina or higher
On a Mac with macOS Catalina or higher, you will use the finder in order to upgrade your iPhone. Make sure to Back up your device before starting the upgrade process.
On a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, you will follow the following steps:
Update your iPhone via a Mac running macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a Windows PC
On macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a windows machine, we won't use the Finder to upgrade your iOS
Instead, we will use iTunes. Make sure to Back up your device before doing any update or upgrade to your phone.

Regardless of the "heaviness" of the update file, during the installation phase it requires at least 8-12GB of free space on your device.
Hi thanks, now i had 8gb free space when I try to download the 16.7, it says download and install, but when I press on it, it says, after a few minutes, “software update failed”.
P.S: I had two pending updates 16.7 and 17
I'm experiencing the same issues. It happened after I updated my MacBook to Sonoma 14. I attempted the update to phone (Apple suggested I do it on my computer) but neither the Update or the Restore are working. Error messages on both. Contacted Apple via Chat and was told that agent would call me but my phone doesn't work so not sure how they would "call" me? When I suggested they call via FaceTime they said they cant do it. So now, I'm without a phone, no conclusion to the issues, sitting here ****** off. Any ideas?
