Cant update but bought more storage

So I am trying to update my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the iOS 17.4.1 but it keeps saying it can’t do to me not having enough storage and I need to spray up at least 7.42 with a storage space when I bought $9.99 TB worth of storage space.. why?

You can’t increase the amount of storage space on the iPhone.

What you purchased is online remote storage for backups.

You will have to delete stuff off of your phone to free up space.
