iphone video size seems to be increasing for no reason?

Hi, each week I record a 1hr long video on my iphone. Usually, this is downloaded via icloud to my PC, and is around 1-2GB. Last week, the 1 hour video was 8GB, and this week, it is 26GB!!!

I haven't changed anything on the settings of the iphone or the PC, and have no idea why it is increasing in size. This also means I am unable to upload it to another programme because of the file size, and when it is downloaded to my PC, it has a different file extension to all the other previously recorded videos.

Has anyone had this happen - and can you advise a fix?

This walks through the settings for recording videos on the iPhone: Change the camera’s video recording settings on iPhone & Record videos with your iPhone camera

To learn more about this, were you recording in HD or 4K video? As these would result in higher file sizes. What was the file type when you downloaded the video? Are you downloading the video using the iCloud website or iCloud for Windows? Tell us more, so we're on the same page.

Thanks Destiny. I am recording at 4K video 60fps. This has never changed, and all previous files have downloaded with no problem, around 1.2-2GB. For some reason, the file size has suddenly jumped up to 8GB and then 27GB, so it is proving impossible to load them to a video platform I need for my work.

I'm trying to download the video from my apple icloud.com library, and am using a PC laptop. I hope that this helps - the main mystery is why the file size has suddenly changed, when I have not changed the settings, and secondly, how to compress the files without compromising quality and thirdly, how to stop this happening again.
