Weather location inaccurate

The “my location” section of the weather app on my iPhone 14 Plus recently changed from an accurate location to a town a few miles away and no amount of tweaking is correcting this. My series 6 Apple watch however remains accurate. Since the issue arose, there has been the major iOS 17 update, but that has not affected the error. I have tried many things including but not limited to: deleting and reinstalling the app, turning location services off and on, changing weather display preferences to a chosen location as opposed to ‘my location’ and back again, restarting throughout etc. but nothing seems to work. Location services in other apps are otherwise accurate. My partner has the same issue, although in his case he has different hardware: iPhone is an old 5SE, Apple watch also series 6. Any thoughts?

Greetings Eloqueaf,

It looks like you have done a lot of great troubleshooting on your own. The fact that this is happening on multiple devices sounds like the issue is related to the Weather app. Have you had a chance to send a report about this Weather app issue? If not, you may want to follow the steps on this page to do so: Check the weather on iPhone - Apple Support.

Send a report about the weather
You can report the weather in your location if it doesn’t match what’s shown in the Weather app.
1. Open the Weather app  on your iPhone.
2. Tap the Edit Cities button, tap the More button, then tap Report an Issue.
3. Tap the options that best describe the weather conditions in your location, then tap Submit.
The information you share with Apple isn’t associated with your Apple ID.

Take care!
