Since upgrading the software on both my iPhone 11 and 7th gen iPad, the automatic backups are no longer working. I can still select "Back up Now" on either device, and the backup is completed. How do I resume getting the automatic backups to work

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.
Please be sure that "Back Up This iPhone" is enabled in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
Note that the backup will only complete when your device is connected to Wi-Fi and the display is locked.
