Focus Mode From Apple Watch to iPhone Doesn't Work as Expected

I have share across devices active.

I have the current Focus modes:

  • Do Not Disturb
  • Fitness
  • Mindfulness
  • Sleep

I have created customized screens.

I have added additional apps to "set a schedule" in the Mindfulness Focus mode.

Almost everything is synced across devices.

If I use focus mode from the Apple Watch, they all work but not the Mindfulness Focus, not even with the Apple mindfulness app.

If I click the workout app from the watch, everything is synced and all other devices go to sleep and change screen.

But if I click the mindfulness app from the watch nothing happens. Same thing if I click the additional meditation apps that were added to the mindfulness focus mode.

I have restarted everthing already.

Is there anything else that should be checked or done?

The Apple Watch is mirroring the iPhone, so it should work.

Ok, thank you. I will have to look into unpairing and pairing again because I have never done it and I have to see how it works and how long it takes.

I hoped that just restarting was enough because everything else is working but this thing!

Unpairing and re-pairing should put it back just the way it was but should clear out little glitches. It doesn't always work but it does often enough to be worth the time, especially on a Watch. It's a bigger hassle with an iPhone.

Interesting. I had never used those particular focus modes and was unaware of exactly how they worked. Not that it helps you but, I've learned something! Thank you.

I don't see an Apple-provided Mindfulness app on my iPhone (I have a third party app by that name), nor do I see it listed as one of the apps provided by Apple in the tech specs for my phone, so I remind confused on that point. However, I did set up that Focus and was able to trigger it from the Mindfulness app on my Watch. So, I can confirm that it should work and the fact you don't see that is, indeed, not what I would expect.

I'm still going with un-pair and re-pair.

I'm a bit confused about your question. Are you saying that you expect, when you click on the Fitness app on your Watch, that the workout focus will start. Or do you mean that when you select the workout focus from your watch, it is shared across all devices?

The obvious things to suggest would be to delete the focus and recreate it. And to unpair and re-pair the watch.

Sorry if I couldn't explain myself better.

I'm talking about focus mode only, not other functionalities of the apps that are all working.

The workout app is automatically connected to the "fitness focus mode" on iOS. When you click on the workout app (on the Apple Watch), for example, it automatically changes all other devices in focus mode, or "do not disturb" mode, if it is easier to understand.

The same happens when you click on "do not disturb" or to "sleep" on the Apple Watch (all other devices go to do not disturb focus mode or sleep).

The mindfulness app is automatically connected to the mindfulness focus mode as well.

But in this case, it works only from the iPhone and not from the Apple Watch like it should.

If I click on the mindfulness app on the iPhone, the focus mode is activated.

If I click on the same app on the Apple Watch, the focus mode is not activated (nothing happens on the other devices and not even in the Apple Watch, there is no focus mode activated).

You are correct, the Mindfulness app is only available on the Apple Watch, sorry for the confusion. I have connected other 2 apps on the same "mindfulness focus mode" and I was using those on my iPhone.

If I use them from the iPhone everything works but if I use any of them, included the mindfulness app on my Watch, no focus mode is activated.

Thank you for confirming that in your case it is working.

Just to be sure, do you have the mindfulness focus mode activated and when you click the app on your watch and start a breathe mode or reflect mode, the focus mode is activated in all your devices? I have also selected the option to change the screen color of the iPhone and everything works but this one!

Yes, I started in breathe mode and it moved my iPhone into the Mindfulness Focus, overriding the Work focus that was active when I started. I should note that it wasn't instantaneous. It took a couple of seconds. At first, I thought it hadn't worked. A little bit after I was finished, Work mode switched on again.
