is it okay to have 99% battery health on a MacBook Air M1 after 16 cycles?

my battery health on my macbook is currently 99% after 16 cycles. is it good or bad?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.0

You’re fine.


All batteries inevitably and inexorably degrade and fail. Most just don’t have estimates displayed.


Battery health should be viewed as “good”, or “bad”. Apple calls these “normal” and “service recommended”.


The degradation is not linear and is not particularly consistent, and depends on environmental factors including operating temperatures, and on usage and charging patterns, and the particular battery construction materials in your battery.


Note: some of the add-on battery apps are less than accurate, per reports.


When the “service recommended” lights up, either the battery or—if it’s then gotten old enough to have other performance issues or storage limits or other limits—the Mac gets replaced.


You will probably want optimized charging (also known as “Manage battery longevity") enabled:
