Cursor Lag Multiple Devices M1 Mini

M1 Mini using Apple trackpad + Logitech USB wireless mouse. Trackpad never has issues, but the Logitech does, so last week I threw up my hands and bought a Magic Mouse. Both Logi and MM: intermittently skip during regular usage. Sometimes stutter, sometimes drag reallllly slowly across the screen. The MM completely stopped working just now, at 4 days old. I turned it off and on and got a connection again, but it doesn't track. Trackpad still working fine.

I'm running two Sceptre external displays. It seemed to begin about the time I added the 2nd display--a month or so ago--so I disconnected one to see if that helped. I also disabled the background process for the dual monitor rendering app. The problem persists.

Activity Monitor:

Yet I couldn't even drag the mouse to take this screenshot and had to resort to the trackpad again.

I upgraded to Sonoma hoping that would help, but if anything it is worse now.

I'm not even sure where else to look to troubleshoot the cause of this. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hello megansays,

We would begin by testing the issue further in safe mode. You can boot there with these steps: Use safe mode on your Mac Keep in mind, you can simply boot there and test out both accessories with the Mac. Then go to the Apple menu > Restart to reboot normally. Safe mode will prevent some software from running, which can help us to isolate the behavior further. Let us know how it goes.

If the issue continues, are you connecting the Magic Trackpad with a cable or Bluetooth? What happens exactly if you turn off the Magic Trackpad and only connect the Magic Mouse? That'll help us to get on the same page.

Hoping to hear back.

Take care.
