Error message "macos can't repair the disk..."

High Sierra

When booting, I get error message "macOS can't repair the disk TimeMachine". It's the 1Tb SSD I have selected for TimeMachine (obviously).

I've tried reformat the disk to all kinds of APFS and MacOS Extended via DiskUtility to no avail. Works 2-3 days, then the error message pops up again.

I tried using the TiimeMachine app itself select and reformat the disk the way the app wanted. Fine 2-3 days the error.

It's been going on for a month.

Suggestions?

Replace the drive. It's dead.

Once Disk Utility can't repair a drive, it is dead. Some drives last 20 years, others last 20 seconds.

This is why you always need ot keep backup and secondary backups, and test them regularly.
