DropBox Incompatibility with MacOS Sonoma

Good morning everyone, I'm an Apple user and also a paid user of DropBox.

I'm writing here because it seems that DropBox is not compatible with MacOS Sonoma today. The issues that are being encountered are related to file synchronization, which effectively comes to a halt when transitioning from Ventura to Sonoma.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Have you happened to find any solutions?

It appears that many of us are facing this issue... 😢

You can find more information on the DropBox forum here.

Thank you.

I've sorted out the issue thanks to a suggestion from Dropbox support on the first day, which I initially hesitated to follow because some reported file loss.

The process is straightforward and user-friendly. You need to unlink the device by disconnecting the user, then reconnect the same user. By doing this, the indexing starts anew, first with the old method, then with the File Provider. At the end of the process, the issue is effectively resolved, and I've got my Dropbox back in sync, as usual.

I've detailed the step-by-step procedure on the Dropbox forum. If anyone plans to do it, I recommend giving it a read to avoid any unexpected issues that may still arise, as there are some choices to be made in terms of options during the process.

Regardless, at least for now, I don't consider myself a fully satisfied Dropbox user anymore. My trust in the brand has significantly diminished, especially in light of the lack of apologies from the company.

I followed this advice to sign out of dropbox on my Mac and back in again. I still do not have the contextual menu for dropbox, it is not syncing files that I drop in to the local mac dropbox folder (I drop them in to the web app instead) and I now waiting for Dropbox to sync over 1.5 TB of files which will take 30hrs. So I guess I'll know if the sync clears the issue the day after tomorrow. Not useful. Sonoma bugs are slowing my day down. Dropbox problems are just some on a long list.

Well, we're venturing a bit off-topic here, but since we're at it, I can tell you that I've been using it for over 10 years now. Unlike Google Drive, which back in the day, along with Dropbox, was the only alternative, I've never had to deal with duplicated files with Dropbox. That's why I eventually decided to switch to a paid account with them. And I can tell you, I haven't regretted it because over time, they've added some incredibly useful add-ons that I use daily for work (Dropbox Transfer being one of the most useful).

However, this time around, they're really messing up. It seems absurd that the Dropbox app for Mac wasn't properly tested before the Sonoma launch!

Truly pathetic and ridiculous.
